AfrikLIB has reached a historic preservation milestone, successfully digitizing over 12,000 volumes of African literature, rare manuscripts, and transcribed oral histories.
This massive undertaking, part of the Heritage Preservation Initiative, involved partnerships with universities, national archives, and independent scholars across 15 African nations.
What’s New in the Archive?
- Pre-Colonial Texts: Rare manuscripts recovered and carefully scanned.
- Oral Histories: Thousands of hours of audio interviews transcribed into searchable text.
- Contemporary Fiction: A growing collection of modern African literature available for educational use.
The AfrikLIB platform ensures that these essential pieces of African identity are never lost and are accessible to students, researchers, and readers worldwide.
